What has been going on in your personal life in the last five years?

My wife and I have recently sent off our youngest son to college. As we watch our children from a distance we are thankful for each of them and how we see God at work in their lives.  In the last couple of years, I have enjoyed traveling to China, the Philippines, Chile, and Colombia. Sometimes on a church mission trip, sometimes on family vacation, and one time for a conference with my wife. I enjoy playing golf, hunting and grilling out.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

In the next five years, I would like to see CBC start several new congregations and I would like to write at least one book.
Children, family, how long have you been at Calvary?

My wife Monica and I are blessed to have four children: Josh, Rachel, Mia, and Stevan. We came to Calvary in July of 2010 and have thoroughly enjoyed these seven years.
Who is Jesus to you?
On a very personal level, Jesus is my Savior, Lord, friend, companion and so much more. Of course, he is that to me because He is the Son of God, who is fully divine and One with the Godhead, and who also became human so that he could rescue me. That’s why I love him and serve Him.

What is a disciple and how are they made?

A disciple is a follower of Jesus who is learning to be like Jesus and to do what Jesus did.  This implies that a disciple is also a disciple-maker.  In other words, a disciple is a life-long learner who loves God, loves people, and lives as a redemptive agent in the world, making other disciples.

Why come to church/ what is the church for?

Church is first and foremost a spiritual family. It is not so much a place to attend as it is a community to belong to. A church is made up of Christ followers who gather to worship together, to encourage one another in growing as disciples, and to share resources (spiritual, relational, physical, intellectual and financial) to advance the mission of God. We hope that CBC is a place where people can worship God, find community, and live on mission.

What is your prayer for this church?

My prayer for this church is that it will be filled with the power and joy of God in such a way that it brings healing and redemption to every life that it encounters. Every person who comes in contact with CBC should experience the love of God and should feel compelled to change the world in the name of Jesus.
